About

HI Monk Seal's main aim is to bring the Hawaiian Monk Seal closer to everyone and increase awareness of this incredible animal, and critically endangered, by educating the public.

When we are on the beach, once we find a seal, we identify who the seal is by looking at its tags, birth marks and scars. We also make sure the monk seal is not injured and is safe by observing its behaviour and its integrity with binoculars or large lenses (always from a safe distance of at least 50ft/15metres) .

We inform the public about the Hawaiian Monk Seal: behaviour, what to do if you see a seal, etc.
We support that using handouts and signs when needed.
